You can choose your own title company. Banks,
attorneys, or realtors might recommend a company, but the
final choice is yours.
There is no law mandating title insurance, but most lenders
require it. And, it’s wise to have a lien search to verify
what is of record.
If you are unable to attend the closing, make arrangements
to be represented with a power of attorney.
